Higashiyama (also known as Niseko Village but not the main base area) is Hirafu’s (main base village of Niseko) more subtle next door neighbour. Guests staying at Higashiyama access the mountain via the gondola and ski to Hirafu and other base areas. Smaller and quieter by nature, Higashiyama appeals those who wish to escape the busy centre of Hirafu but still be within a 15 minute drive to the main village.
Guests staying at the Hilton Niseko Village can catch a shuttle bus to Hirafu which runs late into the evening. There is a bus into Kutchan for shopping, and a bus that runs a loop around Niseko to get you from your accomodation to the lifts. Be aware that this bus stops running near the end of the spring season (Aus School Holidays), but by this stage it is easy to walk around Niseko, the pathways are no longer icey. Most basic supplies can be bought at SeikoMart, which is pretty central to everything.
