Why South America?
If you want big mountain skiing with terrain and snow to rival North America or Japan plus Euro style on-snow villages in our winter then South America is the place to ski. Toss in the food, latin nightlife, shopping, scenery and sensational value, especially in Argentina and you have a unique snow holiday mix. For something extra, add our shopovers in Buenos Aires or Santiago, clip on a sidetrip to Iguazu Falls or check out the glaciers in southern Patagonia. Choose independent or hosted tours.
Travel Tips
When to go?
Mid June to early July for uncrowded skiing at good rates, July/August for prime powder, September for spring skiing with conditions good into October.
What to take?
Quality hire gear is available at all resorts, prices are similar or a bit less than at home in Argentina, similar or bit more in Chile.
Travel Light!
Leave room for shopping - shoes, leather, jewellery, indigenous crafts are must buys. Extreme cold is rare, so ski clothing suitable for Australia is fine here.
Money.
Debit cards & credit cards (Master & Visa best),with a bit of $US cash as back up is the best way to go.
Book Early.
South America is a very popular destination so flights fill early. Skiing is popular, and main season accommodation gets scarce fast.
Health.
Professional ski patrols at all resorts, medical centres generally private clinics, so like anywhere insurance is essential. Don't forget the 30+, the sun is fierce especially at high altitude.
